API price increases rarely arrive with fanfare. They appear in a changelog footnote, a "pricing page update" email, or not at all โ you only notice when the invoice looks different. This is our running log of changes we've verified since 2024, with old vs new numbers and bill impact estimates.
| Provider | Change | Old price | New price | Increase | Date |

| PayPal โ domestic transfers | Instant transfer fee raised | 1.5% (max $15) | 1.75% (max $25) | +17% | 2024 |
Stripe impact example: If you process $500k/month in cards: old annual fee = $174,000. New = $186,000. Extra cost: $12,000/year โ for exactly the same service with zero notice to most customers.

AI model pricing is the outlier โ it has gone dramatically down, not up. But there are nuances:
| Provider / Model | Change | Old | New | Direction | Date |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| OpenAI GPT-4 | Original GPT-4 prices (now legacy) | $30/1M in ยท $60/1M out | Discontinued / see GPT-4o | โ โ97% | 2023โ2026 |

Direct "we raised the price per API call" announcements are rare. More common tactics:
