Cache addresses โ they don't move
Re-geocoding the same address is pure waste; cache it. Use the free credit and the right SKU. See the Google Maps guide in the maps API guides.
Geocoding rates and the caching loophole
Geocoding APIs price per 1,000 requests: Google around $5, Mapbox and HERE $0.50โ$0.75 at volume tiers. The 10ร spread persists because Google's terms historically restricted result caching โ you re-paid for every repeat lookup. Providers that allow persistent caching change the math entirely: address databases are heavily repetitive, and a cache layer typically eliminates 60โ90% of billable calls. Batch endpoints price lower than real-time on several vendors. If your addresses are mostly one country, national providers or the free-tier-generous options often cover full production loads without a bill.
